On the obverse there is a die crack in the lower left hand side on the very outer edge and if you look at the 1. It looks like a double strike. On the reverse side there is a die crack that runs from the upper right hand side all the way down to the 6. it also look like a filled die error in the upper right and lower left rim, blocking the the beading. Am I correct?

.

Maybe, please send cropped images with the film…..

Here are some close up pics. But i think I was wrong on the double strike. So not including pictures of it.

You have to take the coin out of the holder, the make hi-res images of both sides, then crop them and indicate the abnormality you have found. Please?

First off I would like to thank you for your time. Here is the reverse. Along the upper right beading and lower right beading. It looks like a filled die error. And what i thought was 1 long die crack. One starts in the upper left goes through the flower, then the hand then ends at the tongue just as it comes out the mouth. The other starts at the “6” goes through the end of the tail and ends at the bottom of the mouth looking like the both cracks were going to connect. Looking that pictures I wonder if the leg stepping forward. If the thigh isn't a bit of die fill error too.

No here is the obverse. Upper left and lower right look like die fill errors along the beading. In the lower left it looks like die break error. And this picture shows how I thought the “1” was a double strike looking at the right side of the “1”. But It just a protected crevasse.

I agree with your findings, which makes your coin an error coin, not a variant. The “1” double, might also be a reflection in the plastic-film covering the coin?

I know my last picture of the obverse.Look like it still in the film, but I took it out and put it on top of the holder. I think the ridge of the “1” protected a small sliver. making it look like a double strike. At least without looking at it under a microscope.

But just a couple more questions. I think the coin could be VF or F? I'm leaning towards F. Also how much does this add to it value percentage wise?  I've casually collected coins all my life, but only recently taking it a bit more seriously. So my question is what is the difference between and “error coin” and a “variant coin”? I thank you and have a great weekend.

VF, I think.

The 1946 and 1947 are minted in lower amounts than the other years of the type, so the value ought to be higher, my 1946 AU I've estimated at 9.00, the 1947 in vf to 3.00, but who knows, what the market says today?

I have a similar production failure at hand. Perhaps quality wasn't a high priority at the Helsinki mint in the after war years.

Finland after the war was forced to pay the soviet union 225,000,000 (US dollar from 1944) in war reparations, 4.9B in 2023 US dollars. In 1938 Finland had a national GPD of 826.71M in US dollars 2024. But the soviets kept the repayment price of goods set at 1938 prices. So the Finns in reality were forced to pay 6,435.22-7,897.03B in US 20024 dollars. Also Finland was also forced to ceded about 10% of it land mass as well. Here are the wiki links https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_war_reparations_to_the_Soviet_Union  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karelian_question

In 1939 the KGB sent men with artillery over the boarder and fired on one of their own towns. So they could claim Finland attacked first and invade. At this time Finland was neutral. 2 years later the nazis offered to help get rid of the invading Allied soviet forces. Making them now part of the Axis. But inviting the nazi tiger into their house to get rid of the soviet bear was not a good idea. but they felt they had to do something to get back self ruling their country. In 1944 after they signed the peace treaty with Russia that promised the land and reparations. they joined the Allies to get rid of the nazis. You can read more here.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland_in_World_War_II

Plus Finland was the only country to pay off all it's reparations. When compared to the other countries that had to pay. Italy 336M 1944 dollars and had 12X the GPD of Finland. Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania were forgiven the debt when they fell under the umbrella of the soviet union.

But as it turns out it was a blessing in disguise, just as was the Crimean war was for Finland. As it forced Finland into the metal and modern metal ship building industry. https://valtioneuvosto.fi/en/-/60-years-after-the-war-reparations

Here is a university report that goes very in depth into this. https://helda.helsinki.fi/server/api/core/bitstreams/5f1711d5-d45e-4fe8-81f3-558ffd570ba6/content
