Hello fellow collectors.

After a month-long discovery of coins on the playground of a high school in the town of Opava - Bohemia, in the territory of Slezka, coins were found hidden in a ceramic container - it is assumed that it was the salary of a soldier who wanted to hide it so that it would not be stolen from him.

The container contained: 30 gold ducats, 63 Prague groschen, and 9 Meissen groschen - the coins were in bad condition.  They had to be cleaned with canned.  Now the find was presented to the audience in the museum.

place of discovery

the condition of the coins when they were found (the fact that the silver was not fully minted in its time is noteworthy)

Very interesting, thanks for sharing!

For the person that hid the coins, this must have been a very significant amount of money

Yes mate, that's right.  Just to add: treasures are often found in front of the gates of cities, castles and mansions.  In ancient times, it was customary if someone had a large amount of coins-gold-silver, so before entering he tried to hide it in the forest - by burying it in skin, a container in the ground.  I think it was because they assumed that they might be robbed in an accommodation inn, etc. After leaving the city, he begged for his 💰 money and continued on.

It was a custom - of merchants and travelers - who protected themselves from being robbed in inns during uncontrolled drinking parties, etc. They did not have our plastic cards with them and the secret PIN code written on them.😭
