I have attached pictures of some coins that have been sitting inside some makeshift plastic containers for a while now. I inspected them and they appeared to have spots. Are they PVC, and if so, what should I do to remove them? Thank you in advance!
Do not store coins in PVC or plastic packaging. These can interact with metals and spoil coins. Use storage products specifically made to protect coins.
My personal opinion is that coins should not be cleaned. However, if you still want to clean it, you can use gold, silver, etc. special cleaning fluids are available for metals. You can search and buy them online.

You can't remove damage that is already done without doing even more damage but you can use solvents like acetone to remove the sludge that contains the damaging reagents.

Which method would be better and how would I do it correctly? Soaking the coins in acetone for a day or using a cotton swab dipped in acetone to wipe the green parts off? Thanks!
