Please use balloons with Helium or any other inert gas to preserve your precious coins! You can hang them under your ceilings to show to your friends.
There’s everything available on good numismatic stores and or online shops. Why trying to make it complicated.
if you want to collect expensive coins and can get a decent coin holder there’s a problem.
cheap coins use anything you want. If something goes wrong change.
if still scared. Collect the coins picture but make a backup if the hard drive give up. Or if picture is fading.
I use lindner trays for my rarer coins and Schulz albums for everything else
I roll my best silver up in a wad of Charmin toilet paper and scotch tape. I have been told the softness chemicals will deposits rainbow tones on silver. I have some walkers and Eagles that have been stored so 12 years. Will peek in side some day soon
Obviously it varies brand to brand, but my admittedly limited looking into this suggests that “food grade” plastics would be fine for general storage providing the usual “rules” are followed (low moisture, avoiding significant temperature changes etc).
They do seem to be made of different chemicals, so a proper coin one would be superior. But food grade seems to be okay.
If you've got valuable coins, you might want to store those separately in proper storage, just to be safe. But for low value circulation quality, you'll likely be fine.
I keep a lot of my duplicates in old shortbread tins. Can't say I've noticed any deterioration in the 20+ years of storage.
Yes, food grade plastic containers are fine for coin storage. They don't use PVC to make them, because it's poisonous to humans.
In 100 years you will be long dead.
If you put the coin in a food-grade box and leave it there 100 years, it might get the slightest discoloration.
Not sure what the point is but that's my honest answer.
