UK 1 Penny Coin [gelöst]

Picked this up today and thought what on earth is going on with this.

Its a UK 1p or was…. or perhaps still is…. 

 

Way to many things to list that is wrong with it from over stamping, misalignment, wrong wording, stamping on incorrect side - portcullis through the Queens face. One side says One Penny the other says in reverse wording New Penny… 

 

I'm thinking it has to be some kind of fake / home made thing as really couldn't think this would get through the Royal Mint process.

It is however the right size, weight and thickness of a standard UK 1p. 

 

 

Many thanks to rsirian1 who has given me the answer … off out to the garage now to get a hammer and test making some out for myself lol

 

On the plus side its still worth one penny and I can still spend it 😁

All you need is two coins and a vice place the coins on opposite sides in the vice and tighten as hard as you can hey presto a home made “error” coin

We already did except using a hammer rather than a vice.
