Hello everyone,

recently, I found this 200 Mark coin from 1923, minted in Berlin. But it looks like it has a countermark on the reverse, close to the eagle. Does anyone know what this could be? I know that this didn't come from the mint, but maybe someone else can identify the mark. The diameter is correct and it weighs exactly 1g.

King regards and thanks!

Unfortunately, it's just a “0” punch randomly on this coin. There are tens of thousands of such numbers and letters punched on coins so it's impossible to know the origin and meaning (if any).

Even full names are usually impossible to trace back to the author — names such as “WILLIAM JONES” or “J. SIMPSON”. Even less common names can be difficult. I have, for example, a nice countermark "THOMAS PETERS" on an 1861 British penny for which there are too many possibilities for an identification.
