why is there such a big difference in value fir this coin some say  £2,000.00 others £2.99

Excluding the extremely rare variations, as noted on the Numista page, I think anything over ~£5 per coin for a fair condition with fair box is one of two things:

- Ignorance. It's old, so it must be valuable mentality.

- “Scammers” trying their luck claiming its valuable, even when they know it isn't.

I suppose you might get a little more than £5 if it's in really tip top condition. Boxes (I'm given to understand the green boxes are slightly rarer than the deep red,  though not in any dramatic price way) and accompanying paperwork might get you a smidgen more, especially in higher quality.

It’s typical of the scammers on eBay, I have seen the boxed examples at flee markets for £5 and uncashed for £1. If someone on eBay says it’s dark outside I’d go and check.

thanks for your kind reply vi bought mine yesterday for £3.99 on Facebook but when i looked on eBay the rices was stupid the most wax £3,00.00

I was going to start a thread about these coins, but maybe hijack this thread as it may be relevant. I know they have red and green boxes, and i think the colour is dependant  on where it was purchased, but what is the difference between slide out boxes, and those with a lid?
