Hello, everyone.

What does  word “ PRORA” means on description of some early 1900- Italian centesimi coins ?
For example,   sometimes description says:  Italia 5 centesimi 1908 PRORA. But sometimes, just  “Italia 5 centesimi 1908” .  Is there any difference in the same year? 1908,1909  or other? Numista gives just  one type of these years.

So, question is:
1) What this PRORA means

2) are there difference in the same year?

3) If so, which type is more rare, PRORA or   not -PRORA?  :)  :)  :)

Thanks in advance

Could it PROBA? Like in pattern?

Thanks, dear Harryg

. As I understand, You mean that 1908  is two types - the last year  of the previous type, and the first year of the new type.  Thats why new type called PRORA . Ok.  ut other years also carrying  this PRORA word.   for example:

So, it  just  means the coin type?  Italy on the ship?

Yes, alluding to a ship and a bow to distinguish itself from another type coin with what is in this case the same ruler and date of the same denomination. PRORA literally translates as “SHIPS BOW” in English as featured with the lady on the bow on that new type  coin featuring a ship.

well, so its just nickname  of  cointype ( Standing Italy on the ship) .  Thank You very much. Solved.
