Dear all,

I recently added this page N#431797 to Numista. I selected https://en.numista.com/catalogue/ruler.php?id=761 as ruling authority because he was the Grand Duke of Tuscany at that time (1737-1765). However, there is no consistency in the naming of the rulers: sometimes the English version is used, sometimes the Italian version (compare ‘Francesco I’ to ‘Francis II’). See the picture below:

This is just one example of this kind of inconsistency in ruling authorities that is pretty common on Numista. I find this quiet annoying because names of rulers and titles of coin pages are just all over the place and not consistent at all. There seem to be no instructions on which language should be used on this page guidline page either: https://en.numista.com/help/coin-name-142.html

So, what language should be use by default? And could the current discrepancies please be fixed?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Once again, the guidelines are clear:

and French in the French catalog, Spanish in the Spanish catalog. I assume the name in the title should match.

Thanks for the info. My apologies for overlooking this. But can we change the language of the ruling authorities ourselves? It seems like we can't (only in the page title but not in the dropdown-menu), so this has to be done my the moderators.

Catalog administrators, but yes.
