Just going through some NZ coins I have when I discovered this “Joker Queen” as I have been calling it.
I have little experience with lamination errors in person, but from what I have seen online, it matches exactly to how I expect it to look.
Clearly the metal splitting at some form of weak bonding of the alloy.
The strange thing is, it’s right through the queens face perfectly, making her look like she has a Glasgow smile.
Incredibly freaky looking coin.
There doesn't appear to be any post mint damage, and the line stops and re appears exactly at the same spot on the edge of the coin. Also, a small bit counter clockwise of that lamination error on the edge, there appears to be a cud below it.
Trying to see if there are other things of note with this coin (A strange thin outline perfectly spaced around the tuatara’s face).
What‘s the deal with this? Is it what I believe it to be? If it was true, it seems truly one of a kind.
