Hi. Looked for this in catalog but only found the remark that a 1797 over 6 does exist. Nothing about a regular 1797 coin. Weight = .950 ounces. Wonderi about the mintage numbers or anything else of interest that someone might know. Thanks for checking out.

Welcome to Numista.

The information after the year line of 1797 “Over-date 1797/6 exists” is just extra information. It means besides the regular 1797 there's also an overdate. There should be an extra year line for the overdate, just like in Krause:

Mintage figures are often not known.

I'm not so sure, that a new year line is needed for all overdates, some are easy and some are very difficult to determine. Extra year lines might be filled in wrong by non-observant members, and then making it difficult to make correct swaps.

That's correct, but if you want to swap varieties you always have to ask for pictures are you will be disappointed often. An overdate is an example of a variety, why would we have extra year lines for varieties but not for overdates?

We don't have for all varieties, so it's not a criterion.

New to coins -especially foreign ones. I was given a small collection, mostly  Europe, 1850 - 1950;; a couple dozen from China/Japan. So I may be back! Thanks for  checking it out & all the info.
