Hi, i am a first time user of this site looking for some advice. i live in Mauritius and back in 1998 when the controversy around the inverted language on the new banknotes was raging (and the notes subsequently withdrawn by the Bank of Mauritius) i retained 3 of the Rs 2000 notes for my children as i felt they might one day be valuable. All three had been in circulation but are in good condition.

i would welcome some advice as how best to get them valued and perhaps sell them. Or do you feel that there value will increase further and it is therefore worth keeping them.

i would be very grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

Being that the notes have been circulated they are probably worth US$50-100. They aren’t cheap but not super valuable. Highly desirable, yes.  You might get more on eBay. As far as selling, if you need quick cash, sell them. It could be 10-20 years before they significantly appreciate in price due to condition. A lot of collectors would love to have one including me. You need to make a personal choice if you want to hold on to them as keepsakes or if you want collectors to be able to enjoy them in their collections. I hope that helps.

Dear blue-m

if we decide to sell one  I will give you first call!
