There a text in all pages of objects of this series what can be added to the page of the series. For example see comments of N#5055

The stick figure which merges into the € symbol seeks to convey the idea of the single currency and, by extension, Economic and Monetary Union being the latest step in Europe’s long history of trade and economic integration.

  • Description (EN): (see below, it has new text and links to entities in Numista)

---------------------------

This series commemorates the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Economic and Monetary Union, the group of European Union member states that have introduced the euro as a means of payment.
In 2009, the sixteen countries using Euro at that time all issued a 2 euros commemorative coin with a common design. The design was chosen out of a shortlist of five by members of the public across the European Union voting online. It was created by Georgios Stamatopoulos, a sculptor from the Minting department at the Bank of Greece. It shows a stick figure which merges into the € symbol seeks to convey the idea of the single currency and, by extension, Economic and Monetary Union being the latest step in Europe’s long history of trade and economic integration.
