These appear to be duplicated, N#320247 & N#379712.

Also want to verify that Troy oz and regular oz are slightly different in gram weight. One Troy Oz = 31.1grams while regular 1 Oz = 28.3 grams. I understand the the Goldbacks are 1/1000 th Troy Oz, hence the weight should be 0.0311 grams.

thanks to all

Jacques

Did you read the comment on N#379712  ?

1 Troy ounce is 31.103 grams.

Missed that, see it now. slightly different wording.

Weights on many of the 1 Goldbacks though are listed incorrectly 0.028grams instead of 0.031 grams.

have a good day, thanks.

Somebody didn't know what a Troy ounce was and I guess the wrong weight was kept after the page was duplicated for another. Also, there are many where the actual weight was written on the object and it's still wrong.

Somebody needs to look at all 66 Valaurum objects and correct the weights where needed.

Thank you for pointing this out. I think I have corrected them all. If you notice anything else that needs correcting just send a modification request to fix it. I have submitted a modification request for Cameroon so it will get corrected when the referee approves it.

Thank you, appreciate that it takes a team to reach success. Great that we can keep improving this wonderful resource.

I just wanted to bump this thread to discuss if this should be re visited.

The lettering that is different between these seems to be based on the years,  The 2024 notes are also different and only say “Negotiable Instrument”

I believe these have been changed over the years to comply with more state laws and be uniform accross the series.

But now I'm in a situation where I don't know which one I should use for my 2024 Utah goldback, or if I need to make yet another listing?

I would think the solution is to either merge them all into one page and note the differences as variations, or to break them up by the years with each wording types but I don't have one for every year so I don't know which years have which wording.

More than just lettering.

More than just lettering.

The 2024 is also different as they do minor changes to each release.  Including the addition of UV reactive watermaks on the current release.

I'm not advocating one direction or the other, but all the other states seem to just use one N# with all the years listed under and it would be nice if it was uniform across the entire series.

I was just pointing out how it's confusing when I'm trying to add my 2024 goldback to the catalog and there are two listings that are both technically incorrect and looking for an answer as to if it's different enough to merit a new page, and if not, which one of these two is the correct listing?

If the answer is to make a new page, then we would also need to find out what years each version of the goldback were issued and correct those tables, correct?

after just doing some ebay searches, it looks like pre 2022 is "Voluntary Local Currency",  2022-2023 are “special legal tender instrument”, and the 2024-2025 now just say "Negotiable Instrument".

So I would think removing the pre 2022 dates from that listing and making a new listing for the 2024- date series is the way to go?
