Culling your collection

(sorry if in wrong part if forum) - anyone do a regular or semi-regular or never cull of their coins.

For context, this collection I inherited has lots of low value if not zero value (penny’s for example). I have 7 boxes that I’ve been lugging from house to house half full of this ’junk’. I’m thinking about setting a limit (say $20) that if the coin is unlikely to be worth more than that, it goes.

Hopefully I can get the multiple boxes down to 1 or 2 max that actually have some value.

Anyone done or do this? I.e. don’t hold coins worth $4 or so…… quality over quantity so to speak

Normally a pound of World Coins would go for $7 - $10 without any Precious Metals.

Also are you looking for a Base Metal for Silver Swap?

please don’t take my responses seriously

I think many of us are in the same boat as you. I think your on the right track though, sorting out different price lots and then sell by the pound.

Yep 💯. Sort them all out, see what‘s valuable or

potentially valuable and keep them.

After researching all the other coins sell them off to melt/ a keen collector may buy them in bags or whatever. If I advertise i culled everything under say $10, there may be lots of $9 coins in the bags which would be randomly packaged via weight.

We can swap if you want.

…. and by the way, E-Bay is ridiculous  for

selling/ buying. There are coins on there

for $20,000 and next door is the exact same coin, same or better condition for $750…. I suppose the scammers get one every now and then!

yeah I’ll be into all options. Probably take me 6 months to got through it all, photograph, post on here and re

package each coin into a new 2x2.

But as I go now, I won’t bother with photos and posting if they are low value, I’ll put them in a sack for you!
