Greece 1 Euro Cent 2010 - Possible Mint Error

I now have around 10 of these coins all with identical damage, which I originally dismissed as PMD (Photo of the 4 in best condition below - all in practically AU condition).  Even the individual striations are identical (but I can't get the x10 camara to save pictures atm), so I'm starting to believe that this is some sort of minting error.

The error is around the last four oars at the back of the boat…

Note that most oars appear to be intact, as if the scratches run between them.  Maybe someone else has noticed this before, but like me has just dismissed it as PMD until now.  Your thoughts?  Anyone else with similar coins?

The images are not clear enough, sorry. Try again.

Sorry.  Still trying to get this PC microscope working.  The coins are so small that my other equipment isn't picking up the detail.

Hi,

look at the result from my USB microscope of the 2010 1 e-cent coin from Greece

and then the same coin scanned from my HP282 with 1200DPI

I prefer the scanned image?

That's a good idea - use the scanner. 🙂

Like Ole said, use 1200 dpi to scan, especially for small coins. It takes longer but you'll have a detailed result. Don't go higher than 1200 dpi, then the scan takes too much time and the file size will be too big.

We have a HP Envy 5532 scanner - not sure if it's possible to set the resolution/dpi.  Does anyone know how this is done, as the scans I've done so far are worse than the camera on our tablet.

Not sure if this is any better (picture taken on my son's phone):

I may have to come back to this one.  Maybe the office scanner will work better.

Upper left

Select scanner

Select preview

When preview has been executed, select dpi

Select 1200 and say OK

Now say scan

after quite some time (1 min), you'll get your image, and you use save as .jpg

That's how I do it, and it works.

Thanks all - going to have a play with my scanner this evening to see if I can get it to work any better.

Yes, looks different but pretty much the same.
