I have the following but and thought I had identified it as this one KM# 375. But the lettering does not match up. On the obverse of the one pictured on the page it has:

ERN AUG D G D BR & L S R I ELECT E P O

mine has

ERN AUG D G D BR & L S R I ELECT E O

On the reverse of the one on the page it has

VI
MARIEN
GROSCH

mine has

VI
MARIE:
GROS:

Km# 376 could have been a close match but no HB marks.

Mine is

3.2g

24.4 mm

Thank you for any help

KM# 376 has a leaping horse in stead of the wild man, so that's certainly not a close match (even if the lettering is).

Yours is definitely KM# 375. Slight differences in lettering is very common on older German States coin, especially for different years.

Shouldn’t a new page be created instead, using the same KM#?

No, certainly not, it still is the same coin. Multiple listings with the same KM# number would be very confusing and to be consequent ALL variants/varieties throughout our catalog should have their own page. Some types have multiple variants. Members would go crazy.

Lettering variants on medieval coins are the norm not the exception. Each die is unique, you will often find different ways to shorten words because the die carver underestimated the needed space, mirrored or missing letters or even words (because humans make mistakes but most dies are to expensive to be discarded). On long lasting coin designs there are often dozens of different legends and combinations of obverse and reverse dies.

Like already mentioned just put you lettering variant in comment section so it can be found by a search.

Thank you, already submitted a change request for the current page. To add the lettering to the general comments section. Also registered my example. both still pending approval.

Thank you both for the help
