1979 P Susan B Dollar coin

 does the crack go in the coin or is it go above the coin. If the line is above the rest of the coin may be a die crack

Looks like a deep scratch to me. It would help to see the entire coin face in on picture. There seems to be other heavy scratches on it.

 It is hard to tell without coin in hand. But i have found a die crack there once before.

 Coin designs can make some odd die ware areas. Most likely the height of her neck to shoulders to field. Made an uneven pressure on the die. Here is a common die ware issue with a French 10 centimes, witch you can find on the 5,10,20,and even the 50 centimes. Look at her head and the letter F, One the F does not touch her head. But the other one touch her head.

That very little part of the die just breaks away. Most likely the presser from the head. Being much larger   

 IN the US coins you can find a lot die ware for small details on the park's quarters. The wide band around the edge can make small details just break away. If close to the ban. Even in the stats ones. But the parks the die ware can even be seen on the front too. Mount Rushmore if my memory is right.  

 On the SBA the highest point of the neck is by the crack . Down to the lowest point the field. Between the two spots there most likely an odd pressure made

I have 19 of those on my desk. You're making me examine them all now. I'll report back.

 I have over 650 SBA in a jar , or more. Could be from them making the die too. Made a stress in the die to make a weak area. If my memory right only found one other.

I know my girl friend used to make fun of that. Just a odd way to save cash. I have 1800 to 2000 50 cent coins too.  Right now i am trying to fill a gallon jar of dimes, just to see how much that is. Oh have a  gallon jar of nickels ¾ way full. It is get time to take quarters in have 4 gallon zip lock bags full. last time i took in quarters it was over 2000 dollars.

Still looks like a scratch top me. I'd like to see some with a confirmed die crack in that area to compare.

 yes it does look like scratch now. I will have to look for it.  Aden2 is the scratch go in the coin above it.  And in that shape would really not add value.

These are die cracks They are above the surface of the coin.

And they're not perfectly linear.  That was the first indication to me that it may not be a caused by a die crack.
