Dear Friends,

I came across the following coin:

Apparently it is this one (without line):

4 Falus - Sidi Mohammed IV (2nd Standard; Fes) - Morocco – Numista

However, its thickness is 2.0 mm and its weight is 9.42 g, diameter matches. The wear does not seem to be a reason for discrepancies with the coin page data. My question: is it possible that such discrepancies of the weight and thickness were typical for that time minting or should I admit that it is a counterfeit?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Although the Numista page states matter of factly that the Diameter is in fact 28MM and the thickness is in fact 2.3MM, that is rather erroneous information as these type coins are known to vary in both diameter 27MM-29MM, thickness, and weight. They were cast/hammered bronze coins and quality was not of utmost importance. Your example is also holed. Therefore, I have no reason to suspect your example is counterfeit and is perfectly genuine.

Thanks for your opinion!
