Is it possible that this coin is a fouree?

What’s a fouree?

Fourree. Counterfeit coin from the French word “stuffed.”

I thought maybe it was misspelled forgery , but didn’t want to assume. Learn something new every day.

Another word would be Subaeratus for silver coins and they were not always forgeries but like today (fiat) official money cuts by the state in times of financial hardship.

Due to the fact that ancient coins were handstruck, weight and diameter often show variations.  In other words, it's really hard to tell if they are counterfeits or not. Testing the silver content it's the only option.

Cents are money too!
