Your coins weigh around 5.5 g., how could they be struck on a penny planchet weighing 2.5 g.?

You're probably mislead by the colour but that brownish colour comes from environmental damage.

I was just going buy what I've seen on ebay.

Welcome to Numista!

You can ask any price you want on eBay, but if you want to know the value of a coin, you must look at WHAT IT HAS ACTUALLY SOLD FOR.

So, by all means go on eBay and do your research there, because it is the single biggest marketplace for most U.S. coins, but make sure you do an Advanced Seach, and click on the Sold Items button.  Otherwise you will be misled by the scammers who are hoping for a sucker.

Can you please explain environmental damage because they look just like a copper penny to me.  I'm not saying you are wrong I just need a better understanding of how a quarter looks like a penny happened in the environment.  Was it dipped in copper or something?

Buried … Under water …  In a fire

Copper-Nickel clad coins take on a reddish brown hue when exposed to the  outside elements.
