No idea but with no overlap in years it is quite irrelevant anyway whatever is meant by it (at least for coin entry). Probably an error imported by copy 'n paste from another page.
I think, it's the core of the bi-metallic coin, the yellow alloy. I tried to see if that would hold up, but I'm not really convinced there are any differences, see below
I think “heart” is meaningless in English to refer to the center of the coin. Change the coin page comments first then create the graphic showing the difference. Why continue the confusion?

CR made for the year lines (change heart with core) and adding this to the comments section
I once thought / read / or viewed something that referred to the end of the tail of the sawfish with a large or small heart - on the basis that they look like an upside down heart.
However I can’t for the life of me remember whether that is true or not or where I might have seen it. Something to consider looking for if you have many of these coins, I unfortunately don’t have any.
I know the sawfish is a slightly different size, but you can see one tail end is larger and comes down past the fishes gills more.

That was my first thought too until I convinced myself it wasn't.

Suggest to add to the graphic that the difference in diameters is about 0.5 mm.
