With how low the mintage numbers are, aren't all 50 cents after 1992 from sets only?

True, there is always a chance that someone broke a set - especially with the current coin shortage on Curaçao and Sint Maarten - but it still seems like everything after 1992 would be set-only.

I'm pretty sure the mint still circulates the half dollar but at much lower numbers.

Nope I was wrong looks like they ceased in 2016.

That is true, but the reason for me asking/mentioning it, is because the NGC suggests that after 1992, only 2005, 2007, and 2008 exist outside of sets.
Granted at very low mintage per year, but still:

(I wish that I could find an average of all mintages on the CBCS's website, but that website's a pain to navigate 😅)

I've also been thinking of suggesting modifications to other Netherlands Antilles Gulden pages, based off data from NGC.
Given how they are one of the go-to's for coin grading, I'd be tempted to believe their stats. 🤔

I personally don't consider anything after 1992 as circulating. I feel like the 2005, 07, and 08 would have a higher frequency if they were circulating, even considering the low mintages. It is very hard to tell in cases like this where mintages are low, though.

I must agree with you, if I'm being entirely honest.

After 1992, the mintage for most ‘circulation’ years is below or on par with FDC-/BU-only years, so it almost seems like they were minted only for sets.

The only reason I could think of, for those coins to exist in actual circulation, is the coin shortages of the isle(s) necessitating sets being broken.

Either way, I'll probably stick to the NGC's list, and I might suggest an edit for this and the other ‘modern’ Antillean Gulden pages based on the NGC data.

(Though I confess that I don't believe it's worth it to go looking for the ones from very low mintage years, unless they are gifted or if you happen to stumble across them.).

Also, in regards to this, NGC's information is just taken from the Krause catalogs, which are occasionally inaccurate, especially on modern base metal coins like these where most collectors aren't interested in the finer details.

I looked into the 50 cent dates a little more, of the three dates in question, I think 2005 and 08 could have been issued to circulation, but I'm very doubtful 2007 was. If you look on ucoin, the 2007 50 Cent only has a single, set coin pictured, compared to the 1 Gulden of the same year which has several examples, including circulated ones, despite having the same listed mintage.

I'm inclined to believe that the mintages during this period just aren't 100% accurate. If you look at the 25 cent mintages relative to Numista frequencies, 2005 and 2006 have mintages over 100,000, but are both just over 1%, on par with the set-only dates earlier in the decade. 2007, on the other hand, is listed with a mintage of 2,000 and set only, but has a frequency of 13%, matching coins of other dates with around 1 million minted. Some of the 1 Gulden dates from these years are definitely more common than their listed mintages suggest, as well, most notably 2004 and 2006.

Honestly, valid.

I guess I'm just trying to ‘fix’ the pages, and that I have my frustrations with how all-over-the-place it seems.

(That's obviously neither Numista's nor her members' fault; the CBCS has proven before to be rather dysfunctional with some of their systems and monetary policies at times).

I've been trying to make a rough list of what I'm still missing, but I couldn't figure out what was actually circulation or not: I try to avoid stuff and years which were never actually in circulation, ergo the initial question.

For now, I might try to piece some things together still, using your sources as well - really, I just want to try and make the list ‘make (more) sense’.

No guarantees, naturally, and I do appreciate the effort you've gone through. 😄
