I would urge collectors to consider this branch of exonumia which has been pretty much ignored since inception in the 15th century.
For myself, I find them fascinating because:
1) they often commemorate and document historical events.
2) can still be found for reasonable prices.
3) are much scarcer than currency
4) offer a challenge at identification.
Thus far, I've found the member supported Numista catalogue to be the most comprehensive in the world.
