RIC 1 540; RSC 2 (Caius Caes) , struck circa 12 BC, on obverse we see a youth bare head right, (Augustus or Caius)? With CA ES AR across field, on reverse we see ornate candelabrum wi rams heads; all within floral wreath entangled with two bucrania and three paterae. The big controversy comes into this issue with the young portrait on the obverse? Is is Augustus or Caius? I believe it’s Augustus because of the oak wreath being his signature? But others point to Caius Caesar? Joe Geranio text/ Julio Claudian Iconographic Association.
