RIC 1 324- Augustus issued Dupondius- Joe Geranio photo collection

RIC 1 324- (ex CNG sale) Rome mint struck 18 BC, 27mm, 11.5g. A beautiful Dupondius with oak wreath on obverse with three lines / AVGUST TRIBVNIC POTEST inside wreath Translation = Augustus holder of tribunican power.   Reverse:  Q AELIVS LAMIA III VIR A A A F F around large SC.  Translation = (triumvir monetalis) Quint Aelius lamia, moneyer (this issue has his father’s name Lucius missing unlike RIC 323 sest on inscription) for the casting and striking of gold, silver, and bronze coins- decree of Senate.  The average of this dupondii issue is 25-27mm and weighs between 5.08-13.59.  Joe Geranio- Julio Claudian Iconographic Association.
