Hello everyone ! I am new to this forum and this is my first topic.

I am looking for ancient Byzantine silver coin Miliaresion (Basil II and Constantine VII) and found this one, which is badly restored but at a low price,

however, I think the bust of Basil II on the obverse seems weird, the cloth of the emperor have no "dots".

So I am not sure whether its real or fake, could anyone share some insights?

(The third picture is a genuine Basil II and Constantine VII Miliaresion, the cloth of Basil II have “dots”).

It looks funny to me, but I'm no expert on telling whether a coin is authentic or not. Ask r/ancientcoins, if no one on the forum can tell. They've got some experts on there that can identify or authenticate practically anything.

The example you posted for comparison is in a lot better condition, so it stands to reason the dots on the Emperors bust have been worn on your coin.

The coin looks authentic to me….I see no indications of forgery.

Coins are forever!

It's probably authentic, it's just this fuzzy looking patch up their that threw me off. It reminds me of some of the fakes I've seen on Ebay.
