Imitation Tin Cash – Jing You Yuan Bao type (Song style)

One point I am still exploring is the actual period of use.

While the prototype (Jing You Yuan Bao, 景祐元寶) dates to 1034–1038, it seems likely that these tin imitation cash coins were used later, after Song coinage became widely established across maritime Asia.

Based on trade expansion, port activity, and find locations such as the Musi River, Melaka, and Pekan (Pahang), would it be reasonable to suggest a period of circulation from roughly the mid-11th to early 13th century (c. 1050–1200 AD)?

I would welcome thoughts from others on refining this dating. and any chinese documentation on this coin.

Thank you.

There is rather little documentation of exact dates imitative cash circulated in Southeast Asia, but thats a reasonable estimate for the timeframe; you likely wont be able to get much more specific than that range of a few centuries.

Indeed. Thank you
