Welcome to Numista!
Both sides of the coin are important, so it always goes best if you provide two photos 😊
Probably not Brabant, but Flanders (at 10:00-12;00 in your photo we see FLAnD) . N#98013
Reverse legend is: MONETA NOVA COMITIS FLAND, so again Flanders is confirmed. But this legend does not match the reverse legend of the coin in the link.
So I will keep looking.
Thank you for your information. The diameter is 20mm. Is it possibly 1/2 or 1 Groot ?
I modified my last post.
First, the weight would be helpful to determine the denomination (1 groot or ½ groot). At 20 mm, you may be correct that it it ½, but the coins were specified by weight.
But the coin is unusual because the obverse looks like the design of coins of Philip (1384-1404) in the earlier link, but the reverse looks like a different type. N#98048 .
I don;t have the Martiny catalog, which is the most recent reference.
Thank you very much for your efforts. I'll get a gold scale now to weigh the coin. I'll get back to you then. Until then, I wish you all the best.
Can you confirm the photos are the same coin? I am not sure the shape matches.
(and this would help explain the confusion 🙂).
Much better 🙂.
If this coin is 20 mm and something like 1.3 grams, it is this: N#308805
The other coin (in the first photo you posted) is earlier, as indicated in my first post. Probably it is also larger.
Thank you very much for your efforts. The rarity index for the coin is 97. Can you say anything about its market value?
[edit vp: link erased]
If you have the half groat, it is not a common coin. Here are the most recent sale I could find:
