Hello,

I would appreciate the community’s opinion on the authenticity of this 1927-R 10 Lire “Biga”. Below are objective observations and measurements for reference.

Specifications and measurements:

Diameter: 27 mm

Weight: 9.70 g

Thickness: 1.8–2.3 mm (clearly visible thickness variation)

A hydrostatic (in-water) weighing test was performed to estimate density, with repeated measurements consistently falling in the range of approximately 10.2–10.4 g/cm³.

Planchet and profile:

The planchet shows a distinct one-directional thickness gradient: the highest point is at the top of the portrait’s head at 2.3 mm, with a progressive decrease in thickness along a vertical line toward the bottom edge, which measures 1.8 mm, producing a visible tilted-planchet profile.

Attached images include:

Thank you for your opinions based on the images and the above description.

I'm sorry but it looks like a child cast this in their bathroom, but I do admire the work you put in on this.

It is literally the worst fake I have seen in a long time.

Thank you to everyone for your input and assistance.
I initially thought this piece might represent a genuine mint error caused by an inclined planchet, but based on the feedback it does appear more consistent with a counterfeit.
That said, I was somewhat surprised that a forger would use real silver while employing such a poorly executed die.
Thank you again for your insights and evaluations.^^
