Hey, I just saw that this page N#555813 has just been added.

For me is a bit strange, first, why a 2020 issue coin would appear so late in the catalogues? I'm afraid it might not be an official issue, but a private mint token.

Also, why it has “FRANCS” when all the Guinean coin use spanish “FRANCOS”.

And also, why 1000 Francs? The biggest denomination in coins was 500 Francs.

I tried to find it in international auctions but seems like no one sold such a coin, on e-bay there's no result for it, I found it just on some Russian coin sites but all of them had the same picture.

Isn't it a bit suspicious?

I agree that something feels very off about this type, and I'm not going to assume it's real until I see proof of that. But to a couple of your points:

  • Ucoin has several examples, with a few of those added as early as 2022. Considering how slowly the new series of Central CFA (and even the 2019-23 examples of the prior series) have been entering the collector market, I don't think that it's super weird for this one to be slow to as well.
  • French has been an official language in Equatorial Guinea for over a decade now, so I don't think using francs over francos is a smoking gun either.

It is a fantasy. It seems to be quite crudely made, the animals on the obverse look like cartoon versions of the original design by Lucien Bazor. There are also other designs and denominations of these things for sale, which claim to be from some other country of the currency union.

Do you have other photo examples?

If there are other similar "coins" then that settles it, I think.

Yes, but i would be kinda disappointed of that's fantasy, i liked it as a common circulating coin 😂😂

Fantasy coins.

The mistakes of uCoin may continue in uCoin.

Yes they are all fantasy coins. There have been several series of full denomination sets last year or so. They look similar to the versions that were around up to 90s but as already noted by Thingknower quite poorly executed.

They are definitely not circulation coins (I am sure numista has other denominations without even checking)

This si done now, many thanks all!!!
