2 Zlote 2006 Poland, what sort of damage or error is this?

Hello fellow collectors,

just noticed weird looking 2 Złote from 2006, fortunately, I had the same year coin which looked like the other year's coins (i.e. catalog-wise same) to compare with.

On the right the “normal” coin, on the left side the “weird” coin.

Is it damage? Someone putting the coin through press?

Minting error/damage? or counterfeit???

The letters seem to be doubled on both sides, the date is way too thick and the shape is somehow off, also the talon is facing up instead of down? 

The coin on the left seems to be a (much) better strike. Maybe it was struck shortly after a die change?

If they were both in the same condition you could say that one was a thick font and a thin font.  Or if a thin/thick variety was already known I could see calling a difference, but one is a lot more worn that the other so it's impossible to say.

I don't think this is likely, all others I have minted in different years look like the one on the right.

I would say these are similarly worn coins, I am lucky to have 2 to compare as the 2006 is kind of low mintage year (5 million). I have the same couple other coins from different years, even more worn, but those still look more like the one on the right side. Also, what bothers me is how the letters are “doubled”, like the coin went through a hydraulic press, but the rims and edges are not affected, only the letters. The talon on the eagle's foot is also strangely deformed or upward facing.
