I have seen dots on the outside of off center coins of Sweden before with some like the one on the bottom attributed to contemporary counterfeits. The top coin below is of a dreipolcher of Gustav II Adolph. I think this is the first time I have seen these dots on one of those. I have seen dots on both the obverse and reverse. Why the dots? Where they on the planchet sheet before punching to guide punching? Regards, Jeffrey Amelse
Maybe some tolerance marks or simply all void space on the roller die has them. It's a bit hard to see but I believe there are some dots on these dies too. Video
