No clue what this is [gelöst]

I've been going through my father's old collection and found this (see picture) I know what kind of coin it is but is this a die crack, a destroyed coin,  or something else? TIA

 The design is known as ‘seated Liberty’ and is on a few coins, 

so need the diameter to know which one.

 It was changed outside the mint, to make a brooch. The clasp was welded over 

the design and has since broken off. The other side was smoothed off and 

then engraved [A C P] - making it known as a ‘love token’.
