is there any way of setting up a wish list of coins i want? Both so i can see what i need to get complete sets and also if some one wanted to do a swap they would know what im looking for?
Hi everyone. I think it would be a great idea to be able to indicate specific coins that are wanted by a collector. Perhaps an extra box beside "Exchange" called "Wanted". So where "Exchange" means that I have a coin to give in a swap then the "Wanted" box would indicate a coin that I don't have that i would like to receive in a swap. Think of the power of then matching someone who wants a coin that someone else has marked for exchange - could be very powerful and generate a lot of trades.

I certainly think that a wish list / want list should be part of this site.
It would improve exchanges significantly.
Please consider this option.
Hello,

I really consider this option. But I don't want to make regular check lists with lots of boxes to check, like you could do with any Excel file. Numista should make swaps easy!
So I would like to create smart tools to tell what coins you wish. For instance, checking every missing coin from a given country at once.

Currently, I just started to design the specifications and I need to know what are your needs. If you could establish any wishlist as easily as clicking a single button, what would you put in this list? (all your missing coins? all your missing coins from the country or the period you collect? just a few coins you really desire?)
Would you add specific mintage years or coin types?
Which approximate amount of coins would you add?

Thank you for your answers. They will help me to design a truly useful tool.
I have listed the coins that I have in my collection. It should be easy to generate a a list of the coins that are not in my collection by country. Then, there should be a system where I can indicate which coins I currently want from the list of coins not in my collection. If I took the time, I could find people who are looking for coins that I am willing to exchange. It is one thing to know what a person has in his or her collection. However, it would be awesome to know the coins that are on the other collector's "want list". I can see great potential for all sorts of exchanges.
Thank you coinsoldier. I perfectly understand the benefits of a want list. You can already see the list of coins not in your collection by selecting the right option in the search box.
What I'd like to know now is what there would be in your want list.
I would like to see an option where I could select what countries I am interested in acquiring coins from. Perhaps if this would be tied into the exchanges part of the website, that would be great. I have many coins from many countries but I may only be looking for coins from 1 or 2 countries. If the swap potential paired me up with only those who had coins from the specific countries I'm looking for that would be great.
Hi Xavier - and thanks for looking at this potential enhancement.

My first requirement is to be able to individually flag a specific coin/year/mintmark/variant as a "want" in the same way as I can do this to indicate that I have a coin in my collection. I envisage seeing a check box against each coin on the same row as I can indicate a coin in my collection or an exchange. I appreciate that others will have a use for a smart tool that can generate a wanted list but I prefer to get to know each coin and its dates/mints/variants. So I'm happy to take the time and go through each coin and decide which ones I want.

My second requirement is to be able to download my wanted list to Excel and optionally specify either a country or all Euro. This will be useful when going abroad so I can look out for specific coins. The option to specify Euro as a grouping will be especially useful when I visit any of the Eurozone countries.

Many thanks
Kenny
Hello,
I looked for 'wishlist' in the forum and read in another thread that there will be such a feature in a few months, excellent!
This thread seemed to be the ones for 'putting ideas in' so that's what I'll do now, based on what I like to collect:

1) I aim to have at least 1 coin from each country
2) I aim to have euros of all types from all countries
3) I aim to complete some sets eg all the UK 50p coins for the olympic games

The problem with just making a simple wish-list would be, for example, that if someone has many coins from a country I'm missing it'd look like he has 20 coins that interest me when in fact I just want any 1 of those 20.

So these are the options that maybe could be of use to everyone:

1) Create 'sets' of coins eg US state quarter dollars, UK olympic 50p, 'standard' euro coins (you could have some 'basic' sets but also allow people to create their own custom ones)
2) Be able to add coins (eg after a search) to a 'set'
3) Be able to add single coins and sets to a wishlist (just with a tick next to the coin etc)
4) For each user, be able to see with the user's doubles:

A - how many sets would get started (eg he has coins from Uzbekistan and you've put coins from Uzbekistan as a 'wishlist set' because you don't have any and you want at least one)
B - how many sets would get completed (eg he has both the state quarter dollars you're missing)
C - how many coins would contribute to your sets

I hope that was clear, please let me know what you think
Regards,

Giovanni
I think that a wish list is very usefull for many collectors. Expecially if you have restricted period of your collection, or you have eliminated same characteristic, i.e. no gold, only commemmemorative, no varieties, only coins struck for circulation and so on.
For istance I collect only world coins of XX century by type. So i cant report my collection because automatically many collectors offer me a lot of coins not usefull. If i coud fill a wish list reporting only coin missing to my collection I should have solved my problem. Some other collector club give this possibility.

This is what I would like to see, and it might be nice to have an option to make it visible to everyone or just to me.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I need a wish list, I want this coin https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4623.html really bad but there is no one that will swap it to me at this time so I need a want list to ask for it.

Problem is not to solve a single situation. But to solve a general problem.
We need to insert the list of coins missing to our collection that are not the difference between all coins reported on Numista catalogue and all coins that we alredy have in our collection.
Thanks Enrico
Thanks Zac, those are nice prices, I would like to buy this coin if I cant ever swap it, but I will try swapping for a long time first.
But like Enrico stated we need to be able to have this option.
