South Vietnam (Résolu) [gelöst]

Bonjour.
J'ai remarqué que le Vietnam avait au catalogue 114 pièces, pays répertorié en français sur le site. et le South Vietnam 20 pièces mais pays répertorié en Anglais.
Pour le site francophone, ne devrait-on pas mettre Vietnam du Sud à la place de South Vietnam ?

I was entering my Vietnamese coins for my records and noticed on the map that South Vietnam isn't separated from North Vietnam for the coins (i.e., the coins that are strictly for South Vietnam are posted on the map for all of Vietnam). Shouldn't they be added only for the southern half of the country, rather than the entire nation? And shouldn't there be a distinction between Vietnam and North Vietnam. I also would like to see "Vietnam - Empire" subdivided into An Nam, Cochinchina, and Tonkin.

You are right that South Vietnam shouldn't be shown on the map in areas it never controlled; I think this is just an intricacy the admins haven't gotten around to doing, which is quite reasonable; imagine if we made it so the map only showed East German coins in territory that was part of East Germany; it would be perfect for a historian but incredibly pedantic and for most users I think the current arrangement is reasonably accurate.

To answer your other questions; no there should not be a distinction between Vietnam and North Vietnam, since Vietnam is a post-1975 continuation of North Vietnam, in the same way that there is no distinction between Germany and West Germany, to use the same analogy as before. And Vietnam - Empire should not be subdivided into those units, since they were the ones used not by Vietnam, but by French colonial administrators. Subdividing it thusly would make little sense.

Finally, I am sure the moderators would appreciate it if you posted on the English side forum if you are writing in English next time.
