Hi,
I found this coin and I think it is Ottoman Empire, possibly Egypt but I cannot read a date or value. I went through the Krause catalogs for the last 2 centuries and I did not see it.

I uploaded a front and back image.
Thanks,
Paul

What are the diameter, weight and metal (if you know)?  And do you have any larger images you can link to?  It's difficult to hunt for a date on a picture that small...

Give me your email address and I will send you the jpeg. I thought it was available that way, sorry.
It looks like copper, weighs 2 g. and looks like 11 mm.
Thank you,
Paul

Update,
I found the date and it is #34, similar but earlier.
Thank you again. Like I said, I never would have thought of India.

Take another look... definitely not 34....looks like date is 1344....image is not clear...
I can see an Arabic 2 with a character next to it that looks like the Hyderabad 4.
Paul
date is in the rectangle Paul...
Yes, and thank you. I found the date, but I was referring to the numbers in the upper circle.

Ah yes, I see it now "92" in Arabic...not sure what those numbers signify... they are on all Hyd coins with a tughra, regardless of ruler and value...
Found this on the website of a Numista member... Haseeb78

"Note: Numeral 92 is observed on almost all coins of Hyderabad. It is not the Reginal year of the state or any king or something related to the rank of Nizam or mint identification. It is the Numerical Value of the name "Muhammad". In Islam Prophet Muhammad is praised and honored, therefore Muslims do not want his name to touched with unclean hands or thrown on the floor. For this reason they represent it with the numerical sum. Muhammad: Mim + Ha + Mim + Dal = 40 + 8 + 40 + 4 = 92."

Ok, and thank you. I had no idea. That is where the Krause catalog said to look. Where is a better place to look for the regnal year?
Paul

I think the regnal year is located on the reverse around here....
That does not make it easy but I will look. I love trying to identify coins because it relieves more stress than it creates.
