This website is great. It is a great tool, and it is well maintained. Thank you.
However I must say that I liked the old Dashboard better than the new Beta Dashboard.
We are all interested in coins. Therefore the graphic representation of a coin collection from a country should be related to the size of that collection, not the physical landmass of the country.
For example, if you have a big collection of coins from Fijii, the new Beta Dashboard shows it as a tiny red spot in the Pacific because the country is a small spot in the Pacific. A small collection from the USA or Russia will still be a big splash of color because the USA and Russia are large landmass countries. It should be the other way around on a coin website. A big collection of coins from Fijii should get a big dot in the Pacific, and a small collection from the USA or Russia should get a small dot within that country's large landmass.
I can imagine and appreciate that the new Beta Dashboard took a lot of work to produce. Perhaps a compromise could be making the dots (proportional to the size of the coin collection from that country like the old Dashboard) also be color coded as in the new Beta Dashboard.
This might be a matter of taste but I think the new dash board is much clearer than the old one.
Of course, as you said it might be a big splash of color for few coins for the wide countries. But what about many coins in little countries ? Like in Europe, central America ? I have many coins from Europe and I can say the previous dashboard became unuseful because at the end it was just... one big splash of red all over Europe !... I couldn't see the different countries any more, I couldn't even see the red spots any more ! Just... one big splash of red... With the new color system we can see quickly every country. When the dashboard will be "zoomable" it will be even clearer for the very small countries.
Hello cat.sales,
I'm sorry about you not liking the new dashboard. It's verry difficult to please everyone.
I think that the new map is more readable than the older one, especially in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean where dots hided each other. I realize that small isolated countries are hardly viewable, but in the future it will be possible to view a bigger version of the map.
Perhaps it may be nice to display the list of the coin-richest countries below the map. What do you think about this ?
Best regards,
Xavier
