Currency converting

Can anyone tell me how I could find out if money is still valid cause I would like to convert in to U.S dollars. I have tons of Portuguesa coins as well as Pesos but I have no clue on what to do, Thanks

Portugal uses the Euro now, so apart from collectors value... they are probably worthless. It has been a while since they changed to the Euro too, so their banks probably don't even change them for Euros any more.

Your best bet is probably to sell/swap them with other collectors =]

It was possible to exchange Portugese Escudo coins untill December 31, 2002. So, like charliebest said, you better swap/sell them with other collectors.

Or failing that, take them to a scrap metal dealer......

A little trick from Numista: If a currency is still valid, Numista displays the euro value in the coin page.
No euro value = currency has been demonetized.

Oh ! There is a mistake. In fact, 0.25 CAD = 0.18 EUR.
I have to correct this.
