So my mother, who used to travel the world, and is responsible for the start of my coin collection. Once upon a time, brought me back this coin, She said while she was traveling through China, a man gave it to her and said it is lucky, he told her he found it in his shoe after he fell into a lake, and the same day he somehow got rich. She didn't specify more about the story, besides she thought he was crazy and just wanted to hit on her. But none the less I have this coin, and I'd like to try and identify it. Can any of you?
But this is just my observation, and not totally accurate at all. Figured I would add anything that can be of help, but I will get 100% dimensions and weight tomorrow at work. thanks!
Southern Song coins are actually pretty scarce and are rarely faked, yours is from the Chunxi era, in regular script. Like easy.dog mentioned, it's really hard to discern what your coin is since the images are very blurry, and it could very well be an iron coin too, let alone S. Song coins are often very worn.
Also shillings aren't a very good unit of measure.
