I do not know about ancient coins, but the image reminds me of modern coins from South Arabia and Yemen -- the large dots within the points of the stars.

Evynr, you're right it look similar to the symbols on the coins of South Arabia.
I went through the Yemenite coins, but did not see anything similar.
What would be the predecessor of the area of Yemen?

It does look similar to stuff like this on one side:
