Just wondering why it is that if I try to start a swap nobody responds, a thanks but no thanks would suffice. Even if someone else has started the swap with me, as soon as I request the coins that I would like in exchange its silence from the third party. Am I doing something wrong?? If someone requests a swap with me and they have nothing of interest to me, then I do at least respond out of courtesy and say thank you, but there is nothing that I need at the moment. 8~ . Puzzling.
indeed, but some swappers are just not polite. ;)just open enough swaps with people, someone wants your coins.

dear friend,

till the time you get about 10 ratings, you would find responses rather cold, afterwards, it would be just easy.

all the best and happy collecting.

even with 20 ratings or higher, some people still don't have the time to respond to a message.

even with 90 ratings: just 50% of my mails will be answered...
50 percent would be quite good result.
Don't worry, its nothing that you do wrong. And probably it is not always that the people are not polite, but sometimes people read mail, think that they will write back later and then forgot.... they will usually remember it in few weeks time... (i have done it few times, the phone fails to post my message due to bad reception at work building,  i have to type it all again and i think, ah whatever, i do it on my next break....and forget).

Also when i look into my "sent mail" folder, then i see that a lot of letters that i have sent are not even read by recepients yet (you can see if they have read it or not), so the likelyhood is that a lot of them haven't even logged in since i sent them these letters...
Same here. Also sometimes when we're in the middle of negotiation or even when the swap has been confirmed (but no addresses have switched hands yet) it goes completely silent.
Hej Kart, thanks for sharing that info. didn't know until now. it's really useful.

Thanks everyone. Plus since posting this post I've been inundated with swap requests, don't worry though, I WILL reply one way or another to them all, just might take me a little while. z)
best way, open swaps with people who posts things on the forum, they are most likely active.

Yeah your breath smells, I can smell it from all the way over here in New Zealand PHEW!  ;)

As someone said, start swaps with people that are active on the forums as there are many people that join up to the site and then do nothing.
I recommend Colgate or Aquafresh. Then Listerine as a mouth wash.

If you have got any Swiss mint coins; I'll swap with you. Maybe we can exchange Altoids?

Yes, good idea. Thanks.

I know the feeling, been there before, but at the end you'll use to it. I did.
The problem is that a some point did stop to propose swaps. Those who want to swap just contact me, I do always answer back.
Cents are money too!

True.  They assume that they are kings.

Dear  theloosehorse, Im also understand you 100%
There is also one more reason: I saw your swaplist, and there are    almost all coins, which  have almost all beginners. And those unpolite people, who  dont interest  in these coins, just ignore your request. Here  also  might be  one reason:  Probably you  select  from them coins, which  have no  any chance to be ballanced  with your swaplist-coins.  And people think that you are so   " green" that even dont  imagine the value of their coins which you  have selected.

But, anyway, I think,  " all roads goes to Rome" , - so  the final of this theme is anyway - COURTESY  and RESPECT

sorry for my  English.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. When requesting a  swap I do try and choose coins from the swap partner that I have a similar standard of in my swaps. Conversely most of my spare silver coins have been requested in swaps against more base metal coins. I have come out on top with some swaps and less so with others, which is as you would expect it to be, but it does leave your swap list with the coins that are more common left to swap, hence my swap list being mostly common denominations of coins. However as a lot of the coins that I seek can be described as common also it just needs a partner that needs what I've got and has got what I need,  ;) . Cheers. Neil
I'm a novice swapper and not too many coins to swap yet but like others I send a good number and no replies. The I've hard I reply saying no thank you maybe in future.

Common good manners in my opinion

Clearly we will have different "evaluations" of value, and different objectives in our collection.
Seems to me people could indicate a price more then propose for swap if there is an issue like that.

Anyway swapping is not easy, just need some luck.

P.S.: Aware we have very common coins, but geographic difference should make them uncommon somewhere.
