Like the title says, I'm thinking about starting buying coins and banknotes on ebay. Is that a good idea? Is that a really good deal? Are there other possibilities/equivalences?
On that, thank you!

I've been buying coins via ebay for several years, and I have had only a few bad experiences. most important is knowing how much you want to spend on a coin (like at other auctions) and don't make higher bids. Most sellers are honest, and in case of trouble, communication can solve a lot. Do not rush into leaving negative feedback on the transaction as it comes back to you...
Try to stick with some (semi-professional) sellers, and combine to reduce shipping costs.
Good luck !
To me, shipping charges make all the difference. I've bought coins where the shipping charge is more than the coins ... But over the years I've book marked a few professional sellers on ebay, with good inventory, and very reasonable shipping policies. I'm not connected with these sellers in any way, but "evil_kierkegaard" caps his shipping fee at 4.95 for the US, no matter how many coins you order. "andriukas24", of Lithuania, charges 2.20 from the first item, and 0.25 per additional item to the US. Those are just two examples of what I look for before I bid or "buy it now". Ebay isn't really good for buying one item at a time. I save up and buy a large order from a good seller.
