Hungary KM# 692 2000 odd obverse [gelöst]

Anyone have any idea what happened to the 2004 coin I have? Looks like a miniature waffle iron was used in the center of the coin. The reverse is not affected. Shown with 1994 coin for comparison.

Are those coins nickel core with brass coat or an alloy? Because this looks like a bonding failure or lamination break off.

Thanks, Idolenz. I thought it might be something connected with being a brass-nickel alloy. I haven't seen anything like it before though. Almost looks like a flag hoisted on the 1. Lamination breakoff seems most likely to me.

To me looks like a small piece of rag got in some where. In less the cores have a pattern on them
