Is this banknote stopped in circulation in Canada?

Only five different banknotes are currently issued ($5, $10, $20, $50 and $100). Smaller denominations have been replaced by coins, and larger ones are felt to be no longer required in an era of electronic transmission of most large transactions. Although currency withdrawn from circulation remains legal tender, it is disposed of by the Bank of Canada when returned to them

​Derf is correct. In Canada we replaced this note with a coin in 1996. You could still spend it in theory, I don't know if a store would take it anymore. But you can walk into any bank in Canada with that note (torn or not) and they will either deposit it into your bank account or exchange it for a $2 coin (we call it a toonie).

​About the only way to fix the torn note is to trade/swap/purchase another one .. BUT >>> do not tape the torn note, leave it as it is. The tear only downgrades the quality. You still have a Canadian $2 note ... If you don't want it because it is torn, send it to me ...
