Trying to collect all coins issued in 1956, but only in VF+ or better condition. All my swap coins are carefully graded and there is no "swap rules" - everything goes as long as both of us are happy.

Due to very high postage fees in Canada - sorry, non-registered letters only.

I have around 50 coins from this year if you'd like to browse?
I have Sweden 10 ore and UK 6 pence, if either of those help. I graded them both VF, but I could send scans if you want to see if they make it to your VF+ cutoff. Also US 1 cent 1956-D but probably lower than VF (I would have to check).
A most excellent vintage.

I was collecting 1956 coins too, at first I was going to try for all of them but quickly abandoned that thought as unrealistic. So now I've opted to settle for one per country. My wife is going to make a wall mounted, coloured world map complete with cutouts for the coins and a space for a nice brass plate with our names and birthdays. She's pretty good at things like that.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

It seems that we share the passion for that splendid year when the world got so damn lucky... We can start the "Club 1956" on Numista, I am sure there is more people here who would gladly join us.:wiz:

I initially thought about 1956 silver coins only but also quickly abandoned the idea since not too many countries had silver coins in 1956 and I thought that the collection would be a bit fragmentary. So, instead I am trying to get as many countries and denominations covered as possible.

For me it's a logical continuation of my first "birth year project" in which I collected (almost) all coins issued in the birth years (and in the country of birth) for myself, my wife, our daughter, our son-in-law and our beautiful granddaughter. Will be a good little "heirloom" for our granddaughter to remember us by.

Nice idea!
So to see it's time for me to start the 1961 numismatics club!

Now there's a Club I could join, September 28, 1961.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble.  It's what you know for sure, that just ain't so.  Mark Twain

Tell me about it. It's very prohibitive.

I'll scan your list and let you know if I have anything.
