Long story (sort of) short - the 1849 "Godless" Florin is probably my dream coin, and I have been contemplating saving up some money to get a decent example. I even hinted at my better half to get me one for my birthday - which incidentally is today - but no such luck.
As a backstory, my grandmother passed away yesterday, which kind of put a dampener on the birthday celebrations, but before that she managed to get my birthday present ready (a bit of cash as usual), so I got that today.
I figured I would use that plus some of my own money to see if I can find this coin to not only get my dream coin, but also a final memory of my grandmother.
So - maybe one of you out there has one for sale or knows someone who does. I'd be looking for the best I can get for hopefully less than £100. Not too much into toned silver, so looking for a more "white" example, non-cleaned/polished of course. Please hit me up if you can help :-)
Thanks Zac, I did have a look on eBay prior and liked the one listed at £50, except the rim damage - most of the rest are either not to my taste or too expensive... perhaps I have unrealistic expectations regarding price vs. quality!
The godless type in high grade does indeed dent the wallet in excess of £100. Unc state can hit £200+
You should in theory be able to pick up a decent VF+ for £100 or less. Higher grades do not come up all too often but it is worth the wait when you finally get one.
Good luck!
