Italy (54)

Austria (29)
Netherlands (26)
-------------------
I think I never had more than 2 coins from Isle of Man in my collection ... That's impressive.
Thanks. I found these pictures I made years ago of some of them ...
Edit: I now added KM# to most pictures. In so doing I noticed some were not showing
in my collection on here, so 8 more coins added to the total - now 74 for Isle of Man.
Could we please change the title to "The Top 10 countries you have coins from (2)".
The misspelling of the word "Countries" makes the thread look daft, illiterate and ESOL like. I know its a French site, but the dedicated English language side here, should aim to get our language correct.
Thanks.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Iam very sorry Moneytane, That is left over from me. I was very well known for my missspelling here. It was time to fix that.
What can i say, my phone is still corded to the wall. The phone Iam using is from the 1980's. And it time to up graded.
Nothing high tech. I go to my coins and write all the countries in the upper colures. Then open at the bottom of the my coin page. Veiw the country list with my collection quantities. Then write down all the higher numbers. Good old fashion pen and paper.
my top 10 now. Iam only 2/3 of the way done is
1 US 1308 coins
2 Germany, all 630 coins
3 UK 605 coins

2 UK 188 types
3 Canada 142 types
4 France 98 types
5 India 92 types
6 Brazil 82 types
7 Yugoslavia 79 types
8 Germany 74 types
9 South Africa 71 types
10 Mexico 70 types
of course I forgot to include USA in the sort (last country alfabethically), so here it is again:
There are no double coins in my collection, except for my varieties of course, but they are exceptions! I have around 42.200 in my excel list, which doesn't correspond 100% with the coins in numista. Sometimes I forget to enter the new coins..... and the differences I only find, when a swap is giving me coins I already have physically, but not registered in numista. Ni modo, that's life!
I collect by types, but sometimes I keep varieties in my collection, and Sjoelund is a great supplier of varieties
So by coins in my collection France commes first but by actual Numista types, Russia wins
Had a change on my leaderboard over the weekend-not counting USA because my bucket of wheat pennies alone beats every other country.

...To be honest, as much as I want to find out, I really don't feel like manually figuring out the types per country, and/or the count for different coins (excluding duplicates).
I don't think it would change the ranking that much, anyway.
Been a looong time since the last time I checked...

I'm about to enter a few more coins from my Sunday coin fair visit, which might change these listings slightly, but I'm posting them as is because I like having two big ties.
Weird observation: in total across all three lists, only one new country had entered the top 10 (Italy in list #2, replacing Israel). Everything else had only been reordering of what was already there.

These are always fun lists to look at - I am also providing some commentary as well to explain why certain countries are high on my list - -
1. United States - 4416 coins - home country. Mt grandfather was a collector and he started me with a penny board when I was 6 years old
2. Euros - 4102 coins - My daughter went to college in Ireland, and we still have her apartment and spend several weeks a year there where I search numerous bank rolls each trip.
3. Great Britain - 2017 coins - fascinated with English Pennys early on and built my collection from there.
4. Canada - 1476 coins - I grew up in a part of the US near Canada and Candian coins were about par at the time and Candian coins circulated freely in the US
5. Germany - 1273 coins (not including euros) - I am of German and Belgian ancestry and have focused on German coins because of this.
6. Australia - 817 coins - I visited Australia on business for 12 weeks in 2016 and added 600 coins to my collection on that trip. I became friends with Brismike on Numista and continue to try to stay current with the new issues. Just finished a swap with Mike and this number will increase significantly in about a week or so.
7. Switzerland - 643 coins - somewhat boring coins actually and not sure why I have so many.
8. France - 570 coins (not including euros) - I visited France three times now and love it and always hit the coin shops when I am there.
9. Poland 461 coins - I have been to Poland on business for several weeks at a time over the years and gathered as many coins as I could while there.
10. Mexico - 403 coins - another neighboring country to the US that I have visited numerous times always bringing back many coins.
Thought this might add some flavor to these lists!
I can only list the top 6, since there is no option to sort by “country with most coins first”. I would REALLY REALLY like that to be an option, along with a lot of other statistics.
Coming towards the end of the year. I started the year with 10,036 coins (incl. varieties) and now I'm at 10,586. 1: Rep India 518 (+3) 2: Poland 352 3: UK 337 (+21) 4: Thailand 317 5: Portugal 304 6: Russia (1991-) 302 7: Canada 296 (+5) 8: USA 265 9: FR Germany 253 (+3) 10: Australia 213
Starting the year with a big bump up for my UK collection!
I’ve taken it slow in the last few months, and have decided that I will slowly stop collecting new coins and instead work my way back
1: Rep India 534 (+26) 2: Poland 352 3: UK 339 (+2) 4: Thailand 317 5: Portugal 307 (+3) 6: Russia (1991-) 302 7: Canada 297 (+1) 8: USA 266 (+1) 9: FR Germany 259 (+6) 10: Australia 216 (+3)
I added a little over 200 coins to my collection over the last year which is not bad all things considered
Well, it's been a long time since I posted here, and I haven't swapped anything since my last post. I have though started to clean out my collection, so my swap list is full with new entries. After this cleanout the numbers has, of course, changed a bit. So here it goes:
Sweden (648)
United States (277)
United Kingdom (254)
Canada (203)
Portugal (181)
Denmark (172)
France (170)
South Korea (143)
Japan (124)
Germany - Federal Republic (116)
So, I guess it's time to update.
I am about to downsize my collection, so I am doing two lists. One is of coins in my collection (aka coins not for swap) and the other list is, which is an indirectly invitation for swaps, is of my coins for swap. 😉

Still all the same countries as last year. Only the counts have gone up.

This is the first year I've reviewed mine, so no earlier data to compare to.
Quantity UK (Mainland): 1,666
USA: 101
Isle of Man: 82
Spain: 75
Gibraltar: 69
France: 69
Poland: 57
Germany (Including forerunners): 49
Turkey: 44
Australia: 35
Type
UK (Mainland): 270
Isle of Man: 34
Gibraltar: 31
Spain: 30
Poland: 27
USSR: 23
France: 21
Jersey: 20
Germany (Including forerunners): 19
Australia: 18
Funny how all the duplicates knock the USA from 2nd in quantity to not on the list at all for types (13 types for the USA). Quantity for the UK is helped quite a lot by the amount of N#856 I have. 431 of the daft little things over 11 dates. Got a tonne of the (non-silver) sixpences too which I've not bothered to catalogue yet. Must be a couple of hundred of them too…
Coins-United States excluded because it's an inflated number at 3,517 due to wheat pennies and other duplicates
1. Germany (Federal) 1,244
2. Great Britain 1,093
3. Canada 861
4. Switzerland 750
5. France 618
6. Germany (Empire) 615
7. Mexico 530
8. Italy 527
9. Netherlands 487
10. Soviet Union 426
Types-United States would rank 3rd with 230
1. Canada 282
2. Great Britain 265
3. Russia 172
4. Soviet Union 144
5. Mexico 141
6. France 139
7. Italy 131
8. San Marino 127
9. Austria 122
10. Germany (Federal) 104
Vatican/Switzerland 98 and Australia/Spain just miss at 97
Still excluding the US as a jar of wheat pennies alone would beat every other country. (3,582 total) The order of the top 10 remains identical to the end of 2022.
1. Germany-Federal 1,284 (+40)
2. United Kingdom 1,143 (+50)
3. Canada 866 (+5)
4. Switzerland 752 (+2-only because all my shooting thalers were apparently moved to Exonumia)
5. France 646 (+38)
6. German Empire 641 (+26)
7. Mexico 550 (+20)
8. Italy 528 (+1)
9. Netherlands 494 (+7)
10. Soviet Union 439 (+13)
Types (United States would rank 3rd with 236 (+6))
1. Canada 291 (+9) I only added 5 Canada coins, but 9 types…riddle me that
2. United Kingdom 270 (+5)
3. Russia 172 (0)
4. Soviet Union 150 (+6)
5. France 145 (+6)
6. Mexico 137 (-4) LOL? I didn't get rid of anything
I haven't added all of my coins, so a number more for US, mainly state Quarters and low denom Canada, India, Mexico and UK.
1) Canada - 384 + 5
2) India - 121 + 8
3) USA - 76
4) United Kingdom - 33
5) France - 15
6 and 7) Spain and Netherlands - 6
8 and 9) Germany and Russia - 4
10) a number of countries are tied here, including Portugal, Belgium, Austria and Japan.
Here is my list going into this year (I only put one coin for each type, even if I have multiple):
1) Canada (shocker) - 452 + 29 (Provincials)
2) India - 121 + 11 (British and Princely) + at least 8 other varieties I have not yet added 3) United States - 145
4) Germany - 41 + (36+8+4 of different states, times etc) 5) United Kingdom - 87 6) France - 27 7) Australia - 22 8) Spain - 20 9) Mexico and Netherlands tied - 13
I can only give an estimation of the number of types:
>100
1. Germany ( incl. GDR and states)
>50

4. Italy ( incl. states)
5. Portugal ( incl. colonies)
6. Canada
<50
7. Czechoslovakia ( incl. Czech Rep.)
8. France
9. Sweden
10. United Kingdom
It's a good point to reflect the developement during the last year. Again, i can only give an estimation of numbers of types (estimation of added types in parenthsis). UK climbed only by counting the terretories Guernsey, Gibraltar, Isle of Man..
7. Germany (All permutations -states, Kaiserine, Nazi, East Germany and modern) 264

Countries - 146
Silver coins - 1,353 - 7.61kg
Definitely more about quality than quantity now - Feb 20 Update

2. Australia - 1648
3. NZ - 1447 (Does not include around 500 common duplicate coins like Pennies, cents and cupronickel)

7. Canada - 461 coins
8. China - 324 coins (Includes 293 Hong Kong)

How do you have a Mohammed V 50 Francs? Isn't there only one of those known?
Probably a mistake on my part - removed it, did not affect my gold amount though.
Shame on Numista for listing obscure varieties as common ones.
I actually have 2 of the common muck metal coin.

I am constantly adding to my swap list so it won't run dry. The numbers has changed drastically since May, and a few new nations have made it in to the top 10:
Sweden (255)
South Africa (86)

Australia (68)
Eurozone (49)
United States (48)
Free City of Danzig (37)

8. Greece (29)
9. Norway (27)
10. Egypt (24)
10. Kazakhstan (24)
First update of the year. Not much has happened since last time. Decided to include the Eurozone, which forced The Netherlands out of top 10 woth one coin short.
Since I collect standard circulating coins and commemorative coins issued for more than one year by type I don't have many coins. I also combined states with all of their successor states, what is the reason why pre-1948 Germany is combined with German Federal Republic, but the German Democratic Republic is not included.
1. Hungary - 77
2. Canada - 67
3. UK - 61
4. Russia (Russian Empire + USSR + modern Russia) - 56

Canada moved up the ranking from #7 to #4. Else I made a lot of progress buying up older Indian coins which do not feature in this list.
my type collection has grown somewhat quick in this first quarter of the year. The biggest change is of course from Portugal where I acquired a fairly large set of coins from my want list while I was on vacation there till last week . Overall my type collection is nearing the 11,000 mark!

First update of the year. Not much has happened since last time. Decided to include the Eurozone, which forced The Netherlands out of top 10 with one coin short.
1) Sweden (252)
2) Canada (55)
3) Australia (47)
4) Euro (45)
5) USA (44)
6) Danzig (34)
7) South Africa (32)
8) Greece (29)
9) Iceland (27)
9) Norway (27)
So, I thought I would do an update, even though not much has happened. I thought I woukd make two lists, so here we go:
my type collection has grown somewhat quick in this first quarter of the year. The biggest change is of course from Portugal where I acquired a fairly large set of coins from my want list while I was on vacation there till last week . Overall my type collection is nearing the 11,000 mark!
1: Rep India 563 (+6) 2: Portugal 364 (+56) 3: Poland 352 4: UK 344 (+2) 5: Canada 323 6: Thailand 317 7: Russia (1991-) 302 8: USA 282 (+1) 9: FR Germany 259 10: Australia 217
It’s been 7 months, added quite a few coins to my top 10 list surprisingly
1: Rep India 575 (+12) 2: Portugal 367 (+3) 3: Poland 355 (+3) 4: UK 344 (+2) 5: Canada 338 (+15) 6: Thailand 317 7: Russia (1991-) 302 8: USA 282 9: FR Germany 277 (+18) 10: Australia 217
Done adding for the year, so United States excluded (3,670) still over excessive duplicate wheat pennies. The order remains exactly the same as last year.

Starting off the year with 11,115 coins in my collection vs. 10875 on 1 Jan 2024; so thats +240 coins added over 2024 or 20 coins every month. Not too bad considering I've stopped collecting most coins post 2020

I was not very good about processing new acquisitions to my collection in the second half of 2024, but tried to get caught up recently.
Here are my current Top Ten counts, though I have a few 2024 acquisitions not yet counted because they need to be added to Numista (mostly Italian States). Have indicated my two largest changes due to acquisition. The largest change was a structural one due to the re-classification in the catalog of some late medieval types previously under Poland as Lithuania.
