Why does it take so long to ship mail to Canada from the US?

Mail sent the same day made it to Poland. Still waiting on Canada.

Thoughts from my friends in Canada????
Puzzles me as well.

My swaps to and from the US have been flawless so far, always under 10 days with the "snail" mail.

Recently won an Ebay auction (from a Canadian dealer), the colonial token was mailed on Tuesday and in my hot little hands on Friday. That's fast.

Missed you at the last coin club meet. Yeah, no idea why its taking so long.
Customs inspects every package, sometimes opens them and inspects the contents. If the value is more than $60 [might be more now] we pay taxes. If they opened the package there is also a flat fee added. This level of service adds 3 to 7 days to the delivery time and generates revenue for the gov to waste. lol

That is very interesting I've always wondered why too.
Same from Finland. It takes more than 2 weeks to mail from Finland to Canada usually, and what about now, it is Xmas time!

I thought the limit was $20. And that the packages to be inspected are selected randomly. The flat fee I think is $9.95. I had "snail" mail from US arrive in 4 days recently but usually it takes up to 2 weeks and sometimes even longer. I once waited for a letter (not coins) for 3 1/2 weeks, and it was a quite important one. Go figure! 0:)

Oh, Beekeeper, welcome to Numista! :)
Another funny thing about Canada Post ( at least in Quebec) - letters and Light Packages from Montreal to France often arrive within 2 or 3 days only (unbelievably fast) while the same letter to Belgium can easily take 2 or 3 weeks.
And the letter within Montreal can easily take up to 4 working days.

I did swap with Canadian friends before and everything went well. Within 10 days the swap it's done. At this moment (X'mas time) I'm the midst of a swap. I'm curious to know how much it will take this time.
Cents are money too!
I have shipped many times to Canada and it is basically like shipping to any other part of the US, I get the coins on time.
From Moldova to Canada near 7-14 days) I sent to Canada many times!
eBay Canada is asking people to sign a letter to Finance Minister where they ask for the $20 de minimis level to be increased.

Please sign it here if you feel like you want to.
