Same reverse, different obverse. I have one of each myself. Though I know both have 'Liberated 1945' on the reverse, anyone know where is the actual date (on either coin)? Either 1945 or 1954 - I cannot see it.
This is what I can find in my 2009 Krause 1901-2000:
KM# 19 1/12 SHILLING
9.5900 g., Bronze, 21.1 mm. Subject: Liberation Commemorative
Obv: Crowned head left Rev: Shield above written value
Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU
1945 1,000,000 0.25 0.50 1.00 5.00 —
1945 Proof — Value: 100
Note: Struck between 1949-52
KM# 20 1/12 SHILLING
9.4000 g., Bronze Ruler: Elizabeth II Obv: Crowned head right
Rev: Shield above written value
Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU
(1954) 720,000 0.25 0.50 1.00 3.50 —
(1954) Proof — Value: 100
When Krause put the date in brackets, that usually means that the date of issue is not shown. It is interesting, however, that you could have a KM#19 and have no idea whether it was minted in 1949, 1952 or sometime in between.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
